Roger Sanchez comes back to Ministry of Sound on Saturday 7th August.

Release Yourself at Ministry of Sound August 7th 2010

The beginning of the year saw the worldly recognized DJ and producer re-launch his residency at Ministry of Sound for 2010. Heavily admired by the club and his fans for his epic 7 hour sets that he indulges in on every occasion, Sanchez reappears on Saturday 7th August for another sensational showcase with full support from his Stealth record label.

2010 has already been a success with the 9th compilation from his Release Yourself series, released earlier on in the year and another season in Ibiza kicking, off celebrating his 10th year. This summer sees him return to the beloved Amnesia terrace alongside mainroom resident Armin van Buuren. It goes without saying that for a talent who has seen a career lasting over several decades, the man behind some of house music’s biggest tracks continues to keep up the pace with remixes and productions reflecting what the industry represents at present. Not one to forget his fans, this year also saw the new and improved rogersanchez.com with a whole new online community enabling not only his fans to interact with one another but for Roger to keep in touch with those that have kept him where he is today. Expect nothing but positive vibes as Sanchez goes back to basics in the Box, with a collective of uplifting house and pure party anthems.

The second installment of SpaceStation takes hold of room 103, with a disco-tastic outburst from Fred Falke and Cosmonauts. The Lyon based DJ gets on board to upturn the dancefloor into a frenzy joint by our personal favorites Cosmonauts. Still in recovery from their epic set at Glastonbury, the disco duo will be providing the perfect soundtrack for your Saturday night.

Raise your hands in the air for Roger Sanchez.

Tuesdays Amnesia – Roger Sanchez Release Yourself July 6th 2010

You hear so many legendary stories about the club Amnesia in Ibiza the sound, décor and those ice cannons are all talked about but the most essential element in the club’s success is in the music and for the last 2 years Roger Sanchez ‘Release Yourself’ session has caused a roadblock.

After catching the sunset at Café Del Mar the huge crowd went crazy as the big S-man played a quick pre Amnesia set at Mambo next door creating mayhem on the beach front offering a taste of what’s to come tonight.

The club opened at midnight and I hit the club from the doors opening to get a good look around the club before several thousand clubbers descend in for the night and there I enter the biggest club I have ever seen! Looking like a glamorous aerodrome with gigantic Release Yourself décor and huge screen playing futuristic Sanchez graphics for the night.

At the head of the dancefloor a massive set of neon headphones surrounds the iconic dj booth were we find Roger in action all ready, no not a quick sound check but the master in full flow for an epic 6 hour dj showcase!

The beats are pumpin quite a pace for early doors but this suits the endless stream of fellow clubbers as they arrive who are instantly uplifted by the motivating music and hit the dancefloor with no hesitation.
Roger then gives us a masterclass in how to rock the floor with constant 3 deck skills all night dropping beats and acapellas throughout his set that keeps the crowd memorized and rockin.

The music was emotive and full of energy and soon had the floor to near capacity in motion while allowing space to dance and move around compared to other clubs who choose to pack you in and smother you.
It was a glamorous night with sexy people coming together as one for a love of great music and created a wonderful atmosphere full of love while Roger laid the soundtrack down, classics we’re dropped by the bomb and were timed perfectly with the amazing light show and glitter drops to make the night fly by with luxury.

Roger is a legendary DJ pulling of a 6 hour set of perfect mixing and dj skills while knowing exactly when to work the music in a tougher direction or bring things down with wonderful vocal house, and before we knew it 6 hours was up and the crowd were still with him all the way.

‘Another Chance’ was the perfect anthem to finish the show while Roger still working the mixer and effects to perfection right to the last beat and smiling the whole night long.

An amazing night at the best club in Ibiza and insist you make it over there this season for the big room experience of your life and a big fat smile all the way back to the beach.

Opening Tuesdays Amnesia June 22nd

Flyer Tuesday Amnesia

Tuesdays Amnesia is all about having fun: raving on epic trance and progressive in the Main room and dancing your socks off on the best house music at the Terrace. Last year’s visitors will tell you: the best clubbing experience on Tuesday in Ibiza.

Only 1 week left to witness the grand opening on Tuesday 22nd June. It will be the night that No.1 DJ in the world Armin Van Buuren & Roger Sanchez team up for the grand opening and set the tone for yet another season of Tuesdays Amnesia. Every Tuesday will see Armin taking over the main room whilst Roger Sanchez’ infamous Release Yourself party concept will tear the Terrace to pieces, celebrating it’s 10 year anniversary on the island.

Armin has been busy recording his new artist album during the first half of this year where he was more in the studio than behind the CDJ’s. He is therefore very excited to get back behind the decks for yet another season of Tuesdays Amnesia. Armin has invited some of the most exciting progressive/trance DJ’s in the world to give them a chance to shine in the Main Room. Amongst them are trance comrades Sander Van Doorn, Gareth Emery and Markus Schulz — all who are featured in the Top 10 of DJmag’s Top 100 DJs poll — but for the opening no less than Jerome Isma-Ae will join Armin and will turn the main room into a progressive trance mayhem!

Jerome has been name-checked by a number of top DJs as one of the talents to watch and although the German ‘progressive meister’ has been around for a while, 2010 is set to be the year he will make his breakthrough.

Roger Sanchez is back at Amnesia for his second year bringing his Release Yourself frenzy to Amnesia’s Terrace.2010 is Roger’s year of celebration with passing an incredible decade, and the beginning of a new. The ‘Release Yourself’ empire is still a force to be reckoned with in it’s 10th year Ibiza existence, No wonder, then, that the multi-award-winning artist from Queens, New York has chosen ‘The Beginning Of A New Era’ as the 2010 theme for his Release Yourself events.

Roger will be joined this summer alongside special guests such as Kaskade, Chris Moody, and other surprise performers! For the opening he will be playing all night long with a special 7 hour set. Throughout his career, Roger Sanchez has been known as a DJ that breaks barriers, and with this years’ Amnesia residency, another barrier has been broken. The Decade continues in Ibiza!

The dancers are ready, the CO2 machines tested, and Armin and Roger — never mind hundreds of clubbers — are getting excited. The stage is set for an unbelievable opening night. Tuesdays will never be the same again.

Besides the opening Roger presents his new volume of the critically acclaimed Release Yourself compilation series showcasing his distinctive sound alongside the cutting-edge of new house producers, creating an experience that both warms with its familiarity and excites with its freshness. As is now tradition, the first disc eases us in and teases us with a taste of things to come, while the second disc is nothing but peak-time, pure energy anthems – with 4 stunning tracks exclusive to this compilation.

Roger Sanchez Presents Release Yourself vol. 9

Release Yourself vol 9 Packshot

Some veteran DJs are content to grow old and live off past glories, taking no interest in investing in the future of the scene that they helped to create. Roger Sanchez is not one of those DJs. Many years on from his take-off in the dance music world his Stealth Records label stands strong as a bastion of fresh house music that moves with the times, and discovers and pushes talented young hopefuls to safeguard the future of the genre. Not only that, but for a second season at Ibiza’s Amnesia he holds down a residency in The Terrace (alongside Armin Van Buuren’s Armada in the main room), keeping the island’s house music heritage strong and creating thousands of memories for the droves of faithful clubbers and newcomers alike who come to witness one of the genre’s most talented and enduring DJs.

Nor is he one to stick single-mindendly in the past and refuse to progress. As always, the new volume of his Release Yourself compilation series showcases his distinctive sound alongside the cutting-edge of new house producers, making for an experience that both warms with its familiarity and excites with its freshness. As is now tradition, the first disc eases us in and teases us with a taste of things to come, while the second disc is nothing but peak-time, pure energy anthems – with 4 stunning tracks exclusive to this compilation.

Disc 1
charms with its graceful beginnings, soon bringing through classy vocals and moving into the hypnotic deepness and warmth of Manoo & Francois A’s Souvenir. Slowly but surely, that more recognizable tribal bump and chunky rhythm begins to creep in. The sound of European underground tech house cuts through the mix on Landmark Biokosmos’ Mix of No Me Puedo Controlar from Release Yourself mainstays The Cube Guys, and you soon realize that you’re listening to someone who loves the full spectrum of house music – not someone who just looks to play the biggest crowd-pleasing anthems and no-brainers. It’s an education for those who know him from more mainstream activities. Ralph Laurentius & Kal El’s Her Name Is teases us with the big builds we can expect from Disc 2, but chugs in a cool and understated way, while euphoric vibes slip into the final section, with Anjunadeep star Jamie Matrix adding some unexpected grit on exclusive track Splinter, and a huge S-Man mash-up giving a euphoric climax.

Disc 2
goes straight in for the kill, big room jugular style. Swedish star Avicii’s remix of Tim Berg’s Bromance kicks off with epic euphoric atmospherics, but the style soon switches to pumping Dutch house with Bobby Burns & Afrojack’s Ghettoblaster and Mixin Marc’s & Lex Da Funk. A new production from Roger himself makes for a centerpiece, 2Gether, with a powerful vocal sample from The B52s’ classic Loveshack a perfect accompany for its uplifting house sound, before the tribal flavours and darker mood begin to work their way in, with George F, Eran Hersh & Darmon Blow doing a bruising job on Afrojack’s Esther. A huge remix of the classic Big Love pushes us into firm anthem territory, with the final section a rousing, uplifting quartet with chunky beats and big riffs – culminating in Johan Wedel’s epic, fizzing, bubbling rework of Dim Chris ft. Amanda Wilson’s Sometimes
.

After one listen, it’s hard to stop yourself from draining your bank account to fund a trip to the White Isle to see this master doing his thing in his natural habitat. Everything that’s good about house music is in Release Yourself vol. 9, and its yet another testament to the fact that while you need to keep the young blood coming, there’s a reason why some DJs are still where they are after so many years. No-one does it quite like The S-Man, and no-one ever will.
